Swing by on Thursday to sample organic wines with us and Ned from Devenish Wine! No greenwashing here, only true, artisanal wines made by farmers with clean methods and minimal interventions. Cheers!
Memorial day hours: Saturday 11-5, Sunday closed as always, Monday closed for holiday. And, if you need to stock up on vino, we've still got some pre-packed cases of white wine available. 12 bottles for $100, and if you call while we're open (anytime after 11 today, Saturday) we can toss some in the fridge for you!
All sorts of great stuff hit our shelves this week! We've got new beer from Prairie, Grimm, and even a few rare bottles from the much coveted Belgian brewer Drie Fonteinen. We got a drop from Foundation (though epiphany is gone, still a bit of afterglow left), and we got a lot of beer from Liquid Riot, including Headstash, Kash money, and two different batches of an imperial stout, one ages in port barrels, the other in Buffalo Trace whiskey barrels. Cheers!
Which sauvignon you ask? Both! Sauvignon blanc and cabernet sauvignon. The origins of the word "sauvignon" go way back, and one translation is "savage/wild", just like this ruthless deer about to eat some really expensive grapes at the Chateau du Seuil vineyards in Bordeaux. We'll be showing this Bordeaux, as well as a few other examples of cab, and some sauvignon blancs. Cheers!
Two new great additions to the shop. We'll now be in semi-regular supply of Bunker Brewing, and we're super happy to be getting more great Portland beer up into Central Maine. Also, we can now safely say that we cover 100% of your dietary needs because we're carrying coffee. 44 North is now gracing our shelves.
We're happy to announce that we'll be hosting one of our favorite Portland brewers here in the shop! Terry from Liquid Riot will be hanging out and pouring beer with us on Friday. One of the beers we'll be pouring is their new Raspy Trouble, an amazing, Maine-grown raspberry version of their Flemish style Sour Trouble. Come hang out with us this Friday. Cheers!
We're slowly but surely building the grocery side of Meridians, and in doing so, fulfilling our mission to offer more local foods that support our customers and our farmers. We now carry Blue Ribbon pasta, made fresh in Mercer, and flours and cornmeal from Songbird Farm in Unity.
